Insurers and travel businesses

Explore the resale potential of unused travel bookings

Some unused travel bookings may still have value to another traveller. Transfer Travel works with insurers and travel businesses to identify eligible bookings and explore resale opportunities through our marketplace.

Whether you have a small number of bookings or want to explore an ongoing partnership, we can discuss an approach that fits your team.

For insurers

Explore whether eligible bookings associated with cancellation claims could generate a recovery through resale.

For travel businesses

If your business holds unused bookings that it’s authorised to sell, we can help assess whether they may be suitable for our marketplace. Eligibility depends on the booking conditions, time remaining before travel, transfer costs and likely buyer demand.

Process

How a partnership works

  1. 1

    Review the opportunity

We discuss the types of bookings involved, your current process and the information available to assess suitability.

  2. 2

    Agree the arrangements

Before listing bookings, we agree responsibilities, approval steps, fees, payment arrangements and reporting requirements.

  3. 3

    Prepare eligible bookings for resale

Suitable bookings are prepared for the marketplace using the agreed information and supporting documents.

  4. 4

    Complete sales and report results

Where a booking sells and the transfer is completed, net proceeds are paid in line with your partnership agreement. Reporting sets out completed sales, agreed deductions and amounts payable.

Eligibility

What makes a booking suitable?

We consider:

  • Whether you have the authority to sell it.
  • Whether the supplier permits a transfer or change of traveller.
  • Whether the booking is still valid and available to use.
  • The time available to find a buyer and complete the transfer.
  • Any outstanding balances, transfer fees or other restrictions.
  • Whether the expected resale proceeds justify the costs involved.

Not every booking will be suitable, and listing a booking doesn’t guarantee a sale or a particular recovery amount.

Your workflow

An approach agreed with your team

We can discuss how booking submissions, approvals, pricing and reporting would fit into your existing workflow. If you’re exploring a new recovery process, an initial pilot can help assess eligibility, operational requirements and actual resale results before considering a wider rollout.

Let’s discuss your bookings

Tell us what types of bookings you handle, approximate volumes and how far ahead of travel they usually become available. Please don’t include customer identification or booking documents in your initial enquiry. We can agree an appropriate way to share any information needed for the next stage.
